The bodily landmarks of the navel seem inexplicably familiar and open at the same time, like eyes looking at us from within. I wonder if they are channels of communication with the outside world, or do they contribute to the artist himself coming into contact with his inner universe, with an earlier form of life, protected in the amniotic fluid, pure, primary, a source of unadulterated creation.
The management of an 'in-between' energy field surrounding the body suggests a physical body without boundaries, genders, races, social inequalities and expectations of perfection and artificial beauty, but which carries as its compass desire, imagination, truth, the beauty of difference and the pleasure of imperfection.
